My friends don't listen to Pop. Most of my friends do not listen to Latino/ Hispanic music even if they are Latino. They listen to Classical music. They dislike Pop music. I have some nerdy friends; they are in their mid- twenties. They care more about making dinero than what goes on in the Pop industry.
I am currently living in Sugar Land, TX (Suburb of Houston). My parents and some of their friends still have ethnic/ racial biases. I guess it is because they grew up with prejudice still and hate towards some people.
No matter what, I still love Bruno Mars and his angelic, amazing voice! I am not hating on him. I just wish the people around me appreciate him and his music more.

My mother loves Bruno Mars' songs as do I; contrarily, my father dislikes him. I don't understand why my dad is so judgmental. He refers to him as "mulato". I wish my dad can move past what he read or heard about him on the news a year or two ago. Although, I do know why he may dislike him a little bit because my grandma (Lola) passed away the day before I decided to attend the concert that was held at Warehouse Live in Houston. She was hospitalized and died the next day on Thanksgiving day. She was about 87 years old and had a hematoma. Maybe that's why he holds a grudge against him and a bit towards me for chosing Bruno Mars than staying with my Lola in the hospital.
Anyway, my dad is getting over his mom's death as it has been two years now. I do not blame him or anything. No matter what he says or does.....so my dad lets me listen to Bruno Mars.... thats all.

We will encounter people who do not like our tastes. Human nature. Develop a thick skin. Do not argue or try to get them to like what you do. Avoid anger. Many out there want to push our buttons. Real friends may disagree but still accept you. Find others with similar likes. Ignore those who will intentionally bring up Bruno Mars just to get you going!
