Here is my hypothesis as to why Bruno Mars did not get chosen by his peers to WIN by the Black community of Entertainment is the following:
1) The show is geared towards African Americans/Black people. Do not expect a white/asian/hispanic/mixed etc person to win on an African American stage on at TV show rooted towards their own kind.
2) He was not acknowledge nor did BET truly give him a chance to appear at the Pre-show.
3) The day before the show BET did not publicize or have good public relations/ advertisements showing support towards Bruno Mars.
Those are my reasons. Anyone care to comment. I'd like y'all's feedback. Thank you for taking the time to read this :)

He was at the BET awards before!.Nothing to do with racism. Remember he was nominated for R&B category with Great other R&B artists.I wanted him to win too but you have to remember that the other artists that were nominated had more R&B music ok.So it's not racism and he most likely has african ancestry because he is half puerto rican

I'm sorry, but what? We're talking about the same Bruno Mars who performed on 2010's BET Rip the Runway, 2011's BET Awards, has been nominated for 5 BET Awards and 3 BET Hip Hop Awards. The same Bruno Mars who won a Soul Train Award (who works in conjunction with BET). The same Bruno Mars who was nominated for a MOBO (Music of Black Origin Awards) and has been nominated for 2 NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) awards. BET has been supporting Bruno from the get go and they've always supported people of color, which Bruno is. I'm not trying to be rude here, but Latino/Hispanic is NOT a race it's a culture/ethnicity. In other words, you can be Indigenous, European, AND/OR African and STILL be Latino. Many Puerto Rican's have African ancestry (some more or less) and Bruno's afro tells me he probably does as well lol. Lala Vasquez was one of BET's commentators for this years award show and she is Afro-Puerto Rican. Rocsi Diaz, one half-host of 106 & Park is Honduran and Chilean. Actor Laz Alonso hosted a BET video show back in the early 2000s and he is Afro-Cuban. 2nd of all, Bruno was not the only artist/nominee not at the award show. 3rd of all, Samuel L. Jackson hosting and the Whitney Houston tribute were the main things being promoted by BET not really the nominees. 4th of all (lol) anytime Chris Brown is nominated for a BET Award, he's usually going to be the winner, doesn't matter the competition. Sorry for coming off so harsh, but it just grinds my gears when people separate Latino's as if they're a race of their own. I've done a lot of studying in college on the African diaspora (slavery) and most African slaves went to South America (Brazil having the 2nd largest black population behind Nigeria), Central America, and the Caribbean, not the US!

He was won the award last year so its not because he not black . nd he didnt want to go the show cause yesterday on twitter he said he was at a book store .
